One of the most beautiful places in Malaysia can be found hidden high on a highland, surrounded by lush tropical greenery about 50 kilometers away from the capital city. This place is usually overlooked because people tend to focus on going straight up to Genting Highland without knowing what they are missing somewhere down there.
I had first come to the Chin Swee Caves temple back in my Uni years when the cable car was not even in existence and everybody had no choice but driving up to Genting Highland.
Sharing a car with two other friends, that was the only time when I had the chance of going there but the picture of the beautiful temple nestled on a mountainside and surrounded by greenery had remained in my head.
When I moved to KL I decided to return to the beauty on my very first chance of going to Genting Highland.
The beauty captivated me again, even more than it did back then. There were more things to see now and I especially enjoyed the Journey to Enlightenment that portrayed the Buddhism belief of life after death – something that I don’t remember being there back then.
Of course the highlight of the temple was the beautiful statue of Buddha that looks down to a large patio. The beautiful patio seems like such a perfect filming location for some kung fu movie. At the time of a heavy mist, the whole temple will be heavily covered in fog which makes it look almost like floating or something.
It can pretty much blow you away with its grandeur and magnificence. The scenery that you’d see from the temple is something to die for (but please don’t). I mean, if you ever had a chance of going to Genting Highland, do not miss taking a little bit of detour to the temple. Seriously, you wouldn’t know what you are missing. 😀
Ahh, I miss being there already. 😀
